'Government provides golden opportunity for education sector to grow'

A two-week Teacher Orientation Program arranged by the Institute of Continuing Education and Extension for the training of the university teachers concluded at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore on Friday.
Vice Chancellor, University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore, Professor Dr Malik Hussain Mubashir was chief guest at the concluding ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, Professor Mubashir said, "There is a golden opportunity for the education sector to grow and develop as the government and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) have been providing ample funds for education and research."
He further said, "We have been lagging behind and dependant on the West because we have forgotten our values and culture." He urged the young faculty to work hard for the development of the country, putting behind their self-interests. Speaking on this occasion, Vice Chancellor University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore Professor Dr Muhammad Nawaz said the orientation program was arranged to train the young faculty and to improve their knowledge.
He called for producing vaccines, chemicals and kits for various tests to save the national money being spent on their import. Earlier, Institute of Continuing Education and Extension, Director Professor Dr Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry highlighted the activities of the institute.
The participants of the orientation program were trained in latest research techniques, communication and IT skills. About 30 faculty members from the UVAS, the University of Health Sciences, Government College for Women University, King Edward Medical University and the GC University Lahore attended the two-week orientation program.
