The management of Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and its Collective Bargaining Agent - the United Workers Front of KPT - has entered a Rs 240 million Charter of Demand for two years. When contacted, a senior official of KPT confirmed to Business Recorder that all the issues have been sorted out to finalise the deal.
An agreement to this effect has recently been signed between the KPT Management and the CBA. The official elaborated that the employees would receive an increase of 19 percent in their basic salary under the deal and the grade revised after every four years.
The agreement is considered to be far better with regard to allowances and facilities as compared with agreements signed by former CBAs.
