The International Red Cross on Wednesday launched emergency appeals for some nine million dollars to help flood victims in Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) said it was seeking 8.5 million dollars to help the Pakistan Red Cross provide assistance to 98,000 people left in dire conditions in flood-stricken areas.
Pakistani officials said on Monday that floods unleashed by a tropical cyclone and a week of torrential rain had killed 110 people and affected 1.5 million in the south of the country.
