On the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, as many as 114,296 plots of 5-marla have been distributed in 28 districts of the province among the poor and shelter-less people purely on merit basis. This was disclosed by the Minister Colonies Mian Manazar Ali Ranjha while talking to media men, here on Monday.
He said that another 100,431 plots are ready for distribution in different districts, which would soon be allotted to the eligible and deserving people. For this purpose, applications have been received in the districts concerned and scrutiny and other formalities are under way. He said if the applicants were more than the available plots then balloting would be conducted for the distribution of plots.
He added that distribution of plots was a regular process, which would continue till the completion of the project. While giving the details, the minister said that 686 plots had been distributed in Okara district, 4,202 in Vehari, 2,711 in Sahiwal, 2,717 in Khanewal, 1,591 in Pakpattan, 5,787 in Bahawalpur, 1,300 in Bahawalnager, 774 in Rahim Yar Khan, 1,432 in Dera Ghazi Khan, 11,570 in Muzaffargarh, 483 in Layyah, 5,477 in Gujrat, 1,590 in Sialkot, 2,756 in Narowal, 57 in Hafizabad, 5,092 in Mandi Bahauddin, 1,254 in Chakwal, 14,288 in Sargodha, 1,436 in Khushab, 5,483 in Bhakkar, 15,477 in Faisalabad, 7,842 in Jhang, 20,289 in Toba Tek Singh and two in district Nankana Sahib.
Under the scheme, thousands of families have been provided their own roof. The minister said that allotment of plots in such a big number is revolutionary step of the present government, which reflects that the government is implementing the strategy to provide maximum relief to the common man.
