Pakistan Industrial and Traders Association Front (PIAF) has expressed its concern over rising price of flour and fine flour despite bumper wheat crop in the country. Chairman PIAF Abuzar Shad, in a statement issued here on Wednesday said artificial wheat shortage has been created to push its price up due to which 'Roti and Naan' prices have risen to Rs 4 each.
He said the wheat price has been increased from Rs 10625 per ton in April to Rs 12,700 per ton in July, 2007. On harvesting of wheat crop, the government had announced to allow export and exporters purchased million of tons wheat at Rs 410 per 40 kg.
After imposition of ban on wheat export, the exporters have no right to keep stock with them rather they should bring their whole stock to the market so that the wheat price could be stabilised at rational level, he added. Therefore, the wheat price has increased to Rs 520 per 40 kg, he added.
