Mothers must get basic education

12 Jul, 2007

It is necessary for the better training of children that mothers must get basic education. There is a very common feeling among parents that only sons have the right to achieve higher education.
But now it has been proved wrong because, mothers at home bring up their children and they must know what is right and what is wrong. It is only possible for a mother if she has basic education.
Today's parents must change their mindset towards the girls' education. In the urban areas, parents have started taking interest in their daughters' education, but the picture is opposite in rural areas as poor parents have failed to change their mind. The government must create or prepare mobile teams to make parents in rural areas able to understand the positive aspects of basic education for girls.
It appeared in a news item that a group of British women members of Parliament visited Pakistan recently and lauded the efforts of the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) to raise female literacy in the country.
Today, as a whole, the nation is facing different kinds of problems. Some problems are the results of negligence of parents' proper training and lack of attention to their children. They send their children to high schools, but don't check their performances. Mothers, who are educated and spend most of the time at home, owe it to their children for proper grooming.
Instead, seeking a job to share husband's burden, if a woman is educated and she can bear some difficulties created by lack of finance, should give up luxurious life style and try to spend her time with her children because her training is more important than her financial help. It is the state's responsibility to provide some financial support to compensate the middle class families.
