Divisional Football: workshop beat Multan 3-2 in final

Workshop overcame Multan 3-2 in the exciting final of Railways Divisional Football Championship 2007 here at Railway Stadium on Thursday. The holder's Multan, despite taking lead, failed to capitalise and surrender the title to spirited Workshop team.
About seven divisional teams took part in the event and seasoned coach Chaudhry Muhammad Asghar was present throughout to dig out talent from the event for main Railways team in coming 53rd National Soccer Championship.
Multan opened the scoring through God-gifted goal when Workshop's defender Adnan tucked the ball past his own keeper in the 2nd minute. But eight minutes from interval, Workshop's striker Asif Hameed, the best player of the day, made it 1-1 after Amir Khan's header slipped out of keeper's Tariq's hands. It was 1-1 at interval.
Workshop dominated second half and struck twice within three minutes. Winger Muhammad Asif made it 2-1 in the 73rd minute and Asif Hameed struck his second to make it 3-1 in the 75th minute to consolidate their lead. Multan made it 3-2 in the 77th minute through striker Owais's penalty kick. Rawalpindi, the third-placed team of event, had the consolation of seeing their front-runner Sahib Rehman becoming top scorer with 11 goals.
