Indian tea set to swamp Pakistani markets

Indian tea exports are set to make major marks in Pakistan. According to Tea Board of India, exports to Pakistan are expected to exceed 25 million kilogram during next three years. From January-March 2007, India exported some 2.7 million kilograms tea to Pakistan, said Basudeb Banerjee, Chairman of Indian Tea Board.
He says board embarked on campaign to promote tea export to Pakistan. Indian delegation's recent visit to Pakistan was successful, which went to Lahore, Peshawar, other important markets."
Indian delegation visited blender packers' offices who requested for Indian tea centre in Karachi on similar lines of that being conceptualised in Egypt. Banerjee expected Pakistan would lap up at least 10 percent of total Indian tea exports due to its quality, reasonably comfortable price.
