National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) will issue maximum number of computerised national identity cards to the people to enable them to cast their votes in the general elections 2007.
General Manager, Nadra Punjab, Colonel Muhammad Iqbal (Retd) stated this while addressing a press conference regarding setting up of Nadra technical headquarters at Sheikhuprua on Saturday.
Sheikhupura is among those districts which have lowest registration rate, therefore, Nadra has set up technical headquarters in this city so that the problems faced by general public relating to issuance of computerised national identity cards could be resolved at the headquarters level, he added.
He further said that Deputy Manager Operation, Syed Gohar Abbas Jafri and Deputy Manager Mobile Van Muhammad Atif of provincial headquarters, Lahore would remain present at the technical headquarters to facilitate the general public.
Besides, Nadra general manager and deputy general manager would also be available there twice a week to redress public complaints. Earlier, mobile vans were dispatched from Lahore but now mobile vans would be provided from Sheikhupura to facilitate people of all Tehsils of Sheikhupura and Nankana districts, he maintained.
The general manager also said that the people could approach headquarters office for mobile van facility through their respective district or Tehsil Nazims. 'I will personally supervise the mobile van service so that people could be provided best facility for getting identity cards' he added.
