Punjab health budget increased: chief minister

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi at a meeting with General Jahandad President of Al Shifa Eye Trust here on Sunday said that provincial government had increased health budget from Rs 9 billion to Rs 23 billion in the province. He said provincial government was providing facilities for the free cure of eye diseases and blindness in the province.
He said in Mayo hospital a modern unit for the cure of eye diseases had been established. Punjab Chief Minister presented a cheque of Rs 20 million for Al Shifa Eye Trust on the occasion. General Jahandad head of the Trust said that till June 30, 2007 a total of 1, 35,000 patients had been treated in the Trust hospital.
