Minister for Information Technology Punjab, Abdul Aleem Khan has said that automation of Urban Immovable Property Tax System in five major cities of Punjab is being started with the cost of Rs 60 million in the current fiscal year.
In a departmental meeting, Abdul Aleem Khan said that working of all the public dealing departments is being computerised, which would help improve the efficiency besides saving the time of people. Initially, this project is being launched in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala and Rawalpindi where information technology department would provide hardware, infrastructure, networking and customisation of the existing software. In the current fiscal year 42 percent work would be finished and after the completion of this pilot project in five cities, property tax system would be computerised all over the province, as well, he added.
Abdul Aleem Khan further said that another computerisation project of crime investigation department of Punjab Police would be initiated at a cost of Rs 32.5 million and 90 percent work be completed during the current fiscal year. This project would be launched in Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi in first phase, which will help hunt the culprits. He said that totally Rs 92.5 million would be spent on these two main projects, which would be big achievements of information technology department.
