Minister of State for Information Tariq Azeem said on Friday that the decision of Supreme Court is not a matter of victory or defeat for anyone. Talking to a private TV channel he said if the judiciary is strong in Pakistan and the supremacy of the judiciary remains established, it must be a good omen for the country.
He said that the government had always stressed that whatever the decision, it would be acceptable to it. "We always said to the lawyers, who were on the protest, that they must have trust in the judiciary as the decision would be according to the law and constitution," he added. Tariq Azeem said, "The SC has reinstated Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry as the Chief Justice of Pakistan and we welcome him back".
SHER AFGAN: Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Sher Afgan Niazi on Friday said the short order by the Supreme Court restoring the Chief Justice is the supremacy of law and constitution of the country.
He said the President and the Prime Minister had maintained from the very first day that whatever the decision, the government will accept it whole heartedly. "I don't see it as a victory or defeat of either party. The Supreme Court has upheld the supremacy of law, justice and constitution," Sher Afgan said. "We concede to it. The government is legally bound to accept the verdict and we accept it."
