Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) on July 20 announced its entry into the pay television market, offering an Internet protocol-based service to challenge the monopoly of rival StarHub. Called "mio TV," the service will allow customers full flexibility to watch what they want without being tied to fixed programme schedules, SingTel said in a statement.
Initially featuring 33 channels, the service will start and offer high-definition television content which gives viewers clearer, more vivid pictures.
Subscribers will have a wide choice of programmes, including Hollywood blockbusters and free-to-air channels.
