Provincial Minister for Law and local government Muhammad Basharat Raja has said that two colleges are being established in Dhoke Syedan in cantonment area, saying 20 kanal land for this purpose has been acquired.
In an interview with APP at his residence Dhamiyal House here on Sunday, the Provincial law Minister said due to special package of the chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, there has been number of on-going development projects in the constituency NA 54, Rawalpindi district.
He said that work on the construction of a girls collage and a boys collage will be started very soon adding the project was in the pipeline and because of non availability of land, the project could not be implemented.
He said due to special interest shown by Chief Minister, the land has been provided form the Woman Vocational Institute at Dhoke Syedan saying the work on these two colleges would be started very soon.
He said besides hundreds of million rupees being provided for the construction of roads, bridges, water supply schemes, sewerage and others projects, Rs 200 million were provided to Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) during the present tenure of Pakistan Muslim League government to carry out various public importance development projects.
Dilating details of different development projects being carried out in constituency NA 54, he said, despite the fact that opposition members belonging to this constituency did not take any interest in public welfare and development of the area adding the PML government led by Chief Minister Pervez Elahi, there has been record development in these areas.
Provincial minister said that Mega projects with the collaboration of Cantonment Board including construction of Flyover at Chor Chowk and construction of double carriage road from Katcheri Chowk to airport were also under consideration saying the Punjab government has decided to start extension and widening of on going Adiyala road project.
He said in order to diminish public traffic problems due to extra burden and increasing load of vehicles, he said there were number of projects in the pipeline saying, design work for the construction of underpass at Lalazar was being carried out for its final approval saying work on the improvement, remodelling and widening of Mareer Hassan Chowk would also be started very soon, he added.
Giving details about the on going development projects in the area he said that Rs 180 million were being spent on improvement and widening of Kalma Chowk, Rs 80 million from Harley Street to Damiyal road, Rs 60 million on Misrial road while Rs 40 million for the extension work of Baba Ali Gohar Shah bridge adding besides Rs 50 million have also been made available by the Punjab government under special package of the chief Minister for provision of potable water in different colonies.
