LEAs coordination bodies formed across NWFP

24 Jul, 2007

In the backdrop of the deteriorating law and order situation and growing attacks on security and law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) in the province, the government of NWFP on Monday constituted Law Enforcement Agencies Co-ordination Committees in all its districts.
The district Nazim of the concerned district will be the chairman of the committee. Commanding Officers of Army, Frontier Corps, Frontier Constabulary, levies and district police officers (DPOs) will be members of the committee while the District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) will work as Convenor of the committee. The representatives of the IB, MI and ISI of the districts will be co-opted members of the committee. The LEAs District Co-ordination Committees will co-ordinate movement of law enforcement agencies, review law and order situation and take remedial decisions.
The committee shall convene meetings, once in a week, which will be mandatory. However, frequent meetings, depending upon prevailing law and order situation shall be necessary.
