Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA) is in the process to initiate construction work on as many as one thousand flats in the Capital for the federal government employees.
Managing Director PHA, Khalid Saeed Haroon told APP here on Monday that PHA was assigned the task to construct a total of 37,000 housing units for the federal government employees by the government. Earlier, Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) was given the responsibility, but now the task would be carried out by the PHA, he added.
To a question he said now December has been set as a deadline for the completion of all PHA projects. MD PHA informed that to meet this deadline, construction work on about 1,000 housing units could be possible in sectors G-10/2 and G-11/3.
Ministry of Housing has already submitted proposals to the Prime Minister on July 5, including a provision of seed money of Rs 500 million by the Finance Division for starting this project.
Khalid said in the two parallel phases, residential facilities for FG employees from Grade BP-17 to BP-22 would be constructed while in the other phase, low paid employees would also be provided with these units, he added. He said like other projects being undertaken by the ministry and its allied departments and organisation, the project would be completed on ownership basis.
About funds for the construction purposes, he replied that these would be arranged on public-private partnership, he added. PHA has so far completed fifteen projects out of eighteen which were termed as viable.
