The Descon Engineering has signed a contract with the Abu Dhabi's Ruwais Fertiliser Industries for Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) works in a ceremony held in Abu Dhabi.
The contract was signed by Shaikh Azhar Ali CEO Descon Engineering and Muhammad Rashid Al Rashid, General Manager, Fertil. This project will increase the urea production capacity of Fertil by 50 percent and the project would be completed in two years using 5 million man-hours. The works awarded to Descon are worth $177 million.
Shaikh Azhar said Descon had a vast experience of setting-up urea plants in Pakistan and Middle East. Based on their experience the company possessed the vision to operate globally. Muhamamd Rashid Al expressed "We have taken a strategic decision to convert our surplus ammonia to urea, which is more convenient to store, handle and export".
Descon experts showed optimism that successful completion of the project hopefully would strengthen the bond between Abu Dhabi and Pakistan and increase credibility of the Pakistani organisations working world-wide.
Besides, Shell's Pearl GTL project in Qatar, ADCO's HIPPS, Offshore Associated Gases, Asab Gas Development projects in Abu Dhabi, Sahara PP/PDH Plants and Petro Rabigh PC3 in Saudi Arabia, Descon is the only Pakistani company exporting manufactured process equipment world-wide through its manufacturing facilities located in Pakistan UAE and Saudi Arabia.
