Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry will chair a meeting of Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan (LJCP) to be held at the Supreme Court on July 27.
Chief Justices of High Courts of four provinces and Federal Shariat Court and other members of the commission will also attend the meeting. The agenda of the meeting includes deliberation upon amendments in various Statutory Laws viz Majority Act, 1875, Guardian and Wards Act 1980, Dowry and Bridal Gift Act 1976, Child Marriage Restraint Act, 1929 and various sections of Pakistan Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure and Code of Civil Procedure.
The LJCP has also organised a consultative workshop in Supreme Court July 28, to increase awareness and understanding on different aspects of the fund. The rational of organising the workshop is to sensitise and create understanding about nature, purpose and character of Access to Justice Development Fund (AJDF) with a view to built informed ownership of AJDF.
The relevant stockholders including representatives of NGOs, members of Bar, legal academia and media have been invited to attend the workshop.
