Sindh Chief Secretary Ejaz Qureshi has ordered immediate removal of all unusable and old vehicles, parked around Sindh Secretariat and other provincial government offices since long.
The decision was taken following complaints to the authorities that damaged vehicles were obstructing smooth flow of traffic on Shahrha-e-Kamal Ata Turk Road (Secretariat Road).
Dozens of such vehicles, which have been left on the roadside without repair even for minor faults, are creating problems for the office-goers and visitors to the Sindh government offices.
Besides private vehicles around Sindh Secretariat, quite a good number of Sindh Government vehicles are getting rusty before the barracks of Sindh Information Department, about four vehicles before the office of Sindh Zakat, Ushr and Auqaf Minister and various other provincial government offices. It is believed the provincial government has not allocated funds to the concerned department for service and maintenance of official vehicles.
Since the top government officials are interested in getting new cars, they least bother for replacement of damaged parts to get the damaged vehicles repaired. The concerned officials instead of getting these vehicles, most of them could easily be made usable after minor repairs, or could be auctioned, opt for placing orders for new vehicles, causing losses of millions of rupees to the exchequer.
