PPP leadership pursuing dual policy: Elahi

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said leadership of the Peoples Party had been following a dual policy. He said that PPP leadership that has claimed to be sincere to the poor people was leading a luxurious life abroad while Pakistan Muslim League (PML) government was practically engaged in public service, national development and prosperity of the country.
He said that due to solid socio-economic policies of the PML government, the country had now entered into a new era of progress and prosperity. He said that due to development projects and exemplary performance of PML government in all constituencies of the province, PML candidates would enjoy tremendous public support in the forthcoming general elections. He said that government had honoured all its promises made to the people in accordance with the party manifesto and development projects were in the final stages of completion in the province. An amount of Rs 13 billion had been spent on various development projects in Muzaffargarh district, he added.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of MNAs, MPAs, Nazims and PML office-bearers belonging to district Muzaffargarh at Chief Minister's Secretariat, here on Thursday. Provincial Minister for Law and Local Government Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Livestock Haroon Sultan, Minister for Public Health Engineering Hassan Akhtar Moakkal, Senator Amjad Abbas Qureshi, District President PML Shakir Dogar, Central Vice President PML Nawabzada Iftikhar Ahmad Khan as well as Tehsil Nazims of Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Alipur and Jatoi were also present on this occasion.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that PML government had been working for the development of far-flung and backward areas on priority basis. He said that pace of development had been accelerated in Southern Punjab by providing additional resources, due to which living standard of the people had improved. He said that government had spent unprecedented funds for the development of this area. He said that roads of Muzaffargarh were being constructed at a cost of Rs 2.5 billion.
He said that huge resources were being utilised on the schemes in health, education, agriculture and irrigation sector. He further disclosed that a record amount of Rs 11.5 billion had been being spent on the reformation of canals in the region. He said that work was being speedily carried out on the mega project of rehabilitation of Taunsa Barrage. He said completion of this project would result in cultivation of thousands of acre of land, strengthening of agri-economy besides prosperity of the farmers. He said that institutions were being set up in the district for the promotion of technical education.
He said that destiny of the people of the area will definitely change as a result of completion of revolutionary projects of the government. Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that a comprehensive development strategy of the PML government had resulted in relief to the masses due to which roots of the party were being deepened in the masses.
He said that all party matters were being solved with mutual consultation of party office-bears and workers and in each district, provincial minister had been appointed as co-ordinator. He stressed upon assembly members, Nazims, PML office-bearers and workers to sink their differences and prepare themselves for the next general elections so that political opponents could be defeated. He also stressed upon public representatives to keep a close liaison with the masses and play their due role for solving their problems.
