McAfee Inc, the No 2 security software maker, said on Thursday its quarterly profit rose 57 percent on higher software sales, according to preliminary results. It also expects to take $100 million to $150 million in noncash charges as it restates previous financial results related to past stock option grants following a probe into accounting for those grants.
Second-quarter net income jumped to $49.4 million, or 30 cents per share, from $31.36 million, or 19 cents per share, a year ago. Revenue rose to $314 million from $277.4 million.
