Spanish police said on July 22 that they had arrested 16 people in connection with a probe of an international pirating network accused of dealing in software, games, films and music.
The network operated in Spain and Latin America, and the main suspect in the case allegedly had five servers that offered a range of products, police said in a statement.
Fourteen of those arrested are suspected of violating industrial property rights, while two are accused of obstruction of justice. Police have conducted seven searches at various areas in Spain and shut down four web sites.
One of the network's main products was a disk that included software with "cracks" that could override security measures, allowing use without original versions.
