Board-in-council has approved the National Audit Plan and National Audit Manual drafted by the international audit expert. Sources told Business Recorder on Wednesday that the World Bank (WB) funded foreign consultant presented the new audit plan before the council headed by the Secretary General Revenue Division M Abdullah Yusuf.
The council highly appreciated the new audit strategy for implementation at the national level. During the presentation, audit expert highlighted salient features of the new audit manual and findings of the Working Group Session for combined audit of sales tax and income tax.
FBR Chairman directed the members to finalise all rules and regulations for the implementation of the FBR Act, 2007. The proposed powers and jurisdiction of FBR members under the FBR Act were also discussed. Tax authorities expressed satisfaction over the revenue collection during the first month of 2007-08.
Sources said that the FBR chairman was not satisfied over the current pace of infrastructure development at the reformed units and directed the concerned officials to expedite the work. A new plan would be developed for speedy implementation of infrastructure and refurbishment of units particularly Regional Tax Offices.
