The All Pakistan Newspaper Society has condemned the attack on the bureau office of Daily Ausaf at Murree and harassment of its staffers by armed hooligans stated to be associated with TOR Murree and termed it as a violence against the freedom of press, says an APNS press release issued here on Thursday.
APNS Secretary-General Muhammad Aslam Kazi, in a press statement, has said the Islamabad Daily Ausaf chief editor has approached APNS that his publication had published some news items against the corruption of Tehsil Nazim Murree a few days ago. In retaliation about 10 to 12 hooligans accompanied by Hasan Askari claimed as a TOR of Murree entered the premises of the bureau office of Daily Ausaf, Murree and harassed the staff members.
These people ransacked the record, computers and other office equipment area thereafter forcefully sealed the premises without any legal notice, said Aslam Kazi. The APNS secretary general urged the Punjab government to take immediate action against the culprits to save the newspapers from the unlawful and criminal acts of corrupt people.-PR
