Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has ordered to take disciplinary action against SDO Shah Jewna Drainage sub-divions Asif Gul and tube-well Operator Mukhtar Hussain for irregularities committed in the sub-division, Irrigation Department in Sargodha.
The orders were issued after an inquiry conducted by the chief minister's Inspection Team. A man, named Javed Iqbal, of tehsil Sahiwal, district Sargodha had submitted a complaint to the chief minister that some illegal occupants had grabbed government land along the Sargodha-Jhang Road at Adda Bagga Balochan in connivance with the SDO Drainage sub-division Shah Jewna and tube-well operator Mukhtar Hussain of Irrigation Department.
The chief minister had ordered his Inspection team to investigate the matter. The CMIT, after conducting an inquiry, held Asif Gul, SDO and the sub-Engineer responsible for their failure to protect the government land and remove encroachments when there was no stay order from any court.
The CMIT observed that four shops constructed illegally by the land mafia on the government land were demolished by Irrigation Department in 2001, no further action was taken to demolish the remaining 24 shops and remove encroachments by occupants.
In the light of the minister's orders, Irrigation Department has transferred both the employees and initiated disciplinary action against them under Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act, 2006.
