Anti-cyber crime offices planned in Lahore and Karachi: PC-1 approved

The PC-1 has been approved for strengthening anti-cyber crime wing to effectively deal with the growing menace of computer/Internet related crimes in the country. Director for Cyber Crimes and National Response Centre for Cyber Crimes (NR3C), Federal Investigation Agency, Ammar Jaffery told APP that new offices would be opened in Lahore and Karachi to fight cyber crimes.
He said NR3C was providing one point contact to all local and foreign organisation for all matters related to cyber crime. Everywhere in the world, nations have made progress on the basis of latest technology in every field of life. Every nation needs e-commerce, e-payments and e-government for rapid economic growth. Only safe use of computer can make use of these technologies possible.
It has become a challenge for law-enforcement agencies to cope with varieties of cyber crimes. In Pakistan these crimes includes financial crimes, e-mail treating, denial of service attack and DDOS attack virus/worm attacks, Internet thefts, unauthorised access to the system, credits cards and ATM frauds. He said that 60 cases had been registered under Electronic Transactions Ordinance-2002 during last two years, and efforts were underway to effectively deal with the growing menace of computer/Internet-related crimes in the country.
He said NR3C was playing an important role to interrogate cyber crime cases and helping different law-enforcement agencies to apprehend the cyber criminals. Ammar Jaffery committed to continue efforts to eradicate this menace through the support of the government.
