A total of 28,143 duty drawback claims involving Rs 997.174 million are pending with the collectorates of customs for 2006-2007. Report said that according to a one-year data compiled by the board, regional customs offices have paid an amount of over Rs 6.3 billion as duty drawback to the exporters during the period under review.
The break-up revealed that Collectorate of Customs, Karachi (Exports) has paid duty drawback of Rs 3.3 billion; Peshawar over Rs 1 billion; Lahore Rs 306.740 million; Sialkot Rs 730.340 million; Hyderabad Rs 29.949 million; Quetta Rs 166 million; Multan Rs 111 million; Faisalabad Rs 498 million and Collectorate of Customs, Rawalpindi paid Rs 178 million as duty drawback to the exporters during July-June 2006-2007.
Details of pending claims shows that Collectorate of Customs, Karachi (Exports) has 24637claims,which is highest pending involving Rs 721 million. Peshawar has 361 pending claims of Rs 36.510 million, Lahore owes 2060 claims of Rs 177 million; Sialkot has 422 claims involving Rs 23.450 million, Quetta with 23 claims, Rs 8.348 million, Multan 4 claims against Rs 0.114 million; Faisalabad, 458 claims, Rs 16.762 million; Rawalpindi, 178 claims involving Rs 36.510 and the Collectorate of Customs, Hyderabad has no pending duty drawback claim during July-June 2007-2008.
