Punjab Communication and Works Minister Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din Khan has ordered his secretary to constitute survey teams made up of engineers and road experts to identify black spots and dangerous curves on various roads in the province.
A meeting chaired by minister on Friday said the ratio of traffic accidents could be minimised by removing the black spots and dangerous curves from the roads. He also ordered north and south chief engineers to chalk out a comprehensive plan to rehabilitate and construct such roads.
"A plan should be evolved to improve geometry of existing roads," he added. He then ordered the communication and works officers to launch a comprehensive campaign and collaborate with district governments and local police to remove encroachments from inter-districts and other important roads. Secretary Muhammad Ahsan, Technical Additional Secretary Javed Lodhi, North and South Highways Chiefs and superintending engineers also attended the meeting.
