Warm welcome awaits Javed Hashmi

06 Aug, 2007

Acting PML-N president Javed Hashmi is expected to arrive at Multan on August 13 and he will be accorded warm welcome at Chowk Kumharanwala by Multan organisation.
Traders, lawyers, students, political activists will join his reception, said Allah Nawaz Khan Durrani, district president of PML-N Multan while addressing a press conference along with Haji Ehsan-uddin Qureshi, and Zafar Qadri advocate on Sunday.
He claimed that it would be a bigger reception than Lahore, which would set a record after the reception of Chief Justice of Pakistan. Durrani said that lawyers were going to launch a drive for the enforcement of 1973 constitution in letter and spirit in September and they would file a constitutional petition in Supreme Court for implementation on the Article 6 of the constitution and open trial of those who violated this article and committed the offence of high treason.
He said that PML-Q would lose its identity and all its stalwarts would join the PML-N soon after the judgement of Supreme Court on the petition of Mian Nawaz Sharif and Mian Shahbaz Sharif for coming back to Pakistan. He said that democracy could not flourish when a general was governing the country and using opportunist politicians to prolong his unconstitutional rule.
He said military rulers had always damaged the credibility of democratic institutions in Pakistan. "But after their ouster, their puppet governments also collapsed and this will happen to General Musharraf's backed government as well."
He said that judiciary had taken bold steps against dictators first time in the history of Pakistan and hoped that such steps would continue to redeem the country of dictatorial rule. "We are seeing a new dawn rising on the political horizon with clear demise of military rule," he opined.
