Preparations in full swing to celebrate Independence Day

This year the nation would celebrate 60th Independence Day on August 14 and in this regard, preparations are in full swing to celebrate the day with zeal and fervour in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
Like other parts of the country, in twin cities, every year, Independence Day is celebrated in a memorable way. Parade, flag hoisting ceremony and other ceremonies and programmes are arranged, in connection with the day. Although over a week period is ahead to celebrate the Independence Day but preparations and arrangements are being finalised.
In Rawalpindi, Union Nazims, Naib Nazims and City Councillors have displayed billboards and banners at the famous Murree Road, in which schedule of fire-show at Lal Havelli has been given. The fire-show at Lal Havelli would take place on August 13 at 12:00 am like previous years.
In almost all major shops and bookstalls, the shopkeepers have displayed flags, bounties and stickers of Pakistan in front of their shops. About the preparations, officials of the different organisations said that among the other ceremonies, flag hoisting ceremony would also be held. They said that all important government's buildings were being decorated with colourful lights.
