Hundreds of EOBI pensioners living in Gulistan-e-Jauhar have been experiencing great physical, mental, financial and time problems to travel to the far located NBP branches for drawing their pensions, as no NBP branch previously operated in this area.
But in July-2007, the National Bank of Pakistan (COD Branch) from Shahrah-e-Faisal has been shifted to Rufi Shopping Mall, Block-18, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi.
This has generated a feeling of relief in the hearts of all EOBI pensioners residing in this area of high-rise buildings. Unfortunately, when now a NBP branch exists in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, the EOBI management has not yet authorised the said branch to make payments to EOBI pensioners. The concerned Regional Office of EOBI is helpless to open an account with the said NBP branch unless approved by Chairman EOBI.
While Government has approved increase in the payment of pensions under new budget for the fiscal year 2007-08 and doing so much for pensioners, the authorisation of NBP (COD Br) for payment of EOBI pensions to facilitate residents of this area, is not a big deal, on humanitarian grounds, in consideration of many poor pensioners.
Therefore, Federal Ministry of Finance and Chairman EOBI are requested to kindly facilitate its pensioners by arranging authorisation on payment of EOBI pensions at NBP (COD branch) now shifted to Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi. This arrangement will benefit hundreds of EOBI pensioners, specially patients, disabled persons and widows surviving on payment of pensions only.
