A former president FPCCI, Tariq Sayeed, on Wednesday welcomed the agreement reached at Pakistan-India Joint Study Group meeting held recently in New Delhi to combat artificial trade barriers between the two countries.
In a statement issued here, he specifically welcomed the agreement reached to exchange a list of 20 products of export interest to both sides by December 31 2007 and prepare a compendium of procedures for their trade facilitation. He also appreciated the efforts and successful negotiations undertaken by the leader of Pakistan delegation Commerce Secretary Asif Shah for establishment of a sub-group to address the issue of market access linked to agriculture sector.
Tariq also welcomed the agreement reached at sub-group on customs co-operation and trade facilitation necessary to work towards a bilateral agreement on customs co-operation on specific bilateral issues. He said that the meetings of the Joint Study Group are proceeding in the right direction, and hoped that they will have positive impact on promotion of bilateral trade.
