Over 200,000 saplings of different varieties and environment-friendly saplings will be planted in rural areas of Islamabad during the ongoing monsoon tree plantation drive. Chief Commissioner Islamabad Khalid Pervez said this while inaugurating tree plantation drive in rural areas of Islamabad at Mauza Tumair, Simly Dam road.
He said that local community had been also mobilised and actively taking part in the drive. Olive plantation would be specially promoted in the rural areas, he added. Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Director Development Finance Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration Imtiaz Ahmed Vohra said ICT Agriculture Directorate had also taken necessary steps for post plantation care of saplings.
