Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd India's top utility vehicle maker, has launched a pick-up truck in Chile with a local distributor, the latest step to expand its international reach and cut dependence on its home market.
The Mahindra Pik-Up will be distributed by Automotores Gildemeister in Chile, Mahindra said in a statement on Monday. It expects to sell 500 units in Chile in the first year, it said.
Mahindra has launched the double cabin model and will also introduce the single cabin model, it said. Mahindra is following in the footsteps of bigger rival Tata Motors Ltd, which has a venture with Fiat to make Fiat-branded pick-up trucks in Argentina for sale in South and Central America and some European markets.
