Pemra awards satellite licence to Jaag TV

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has awarded satellite license to Jaag TV, another addition to CNBC Pakistan group. PEMRA Chairman, Iftikhar Rashid while addressing the license awarding ceremony felicitated the representative of company and said that CNBC Pakistan was an established channel covering business and entertainment mixed programmes for the viewers.
He said that with the launching of Jaag TV, a pure news and current affairs content, CNBC Pakistan would restrict itself to pure business matters. Meanwhile, Rung TV has been brought under the regulatory regime and awarded a license.
With this the number of Penra registered satellite TV licenses has grown to 30. The chairman Pemra termed it the promising addition to variety and quality of content that the authority aims at offering the masses.
Iftikhar urged media operators to play their constructive role and exhibit more responsibility and maturity while designing or airing the programmes. He said that the electronic media landscape has been remarkably changed since last couple of years consequently adding more responsibility to the players in this field.
He said most of the private TV channels are at in initial stage and are experiencing a lot of challenges. It is the time for private electronic media to assume their responsibility to work as a credible, impressive, enlightened, responsible and mature apparatus.
