Two kidnappers killed in encounter

Two kidnappers were killed in an armed encounter with police, after the criminals had earlier gunned down the abducted boy, in nearby village Pagallah here on Wednesday. According to police, the criminals had kidnapped Irfan Ahmed, son of Shaukat Ali from Sarai Alamgir area and had demanded Rs 3 million ransom for his release from the victim's family.
On a tip-off, a police party led by inspector Shahbaz Ahmed Hinjra of Tatle Aali police conducted a raid at their hideout. When the culprits saw the police team, they opened fire on the kidnapped boy, killing him on the spot. In the cross firing with the police later, the two accused identified as POs and brothers Zafri and Zafar Iqbal were killed.
One of their accomplices said to be their brother Naseer who was wounded in the gun battle, was arrested, while others managed to escape. A number of weapons were also recovered from the scene. Police said the kidnappers were proclaimed offenders and wanted in a number criminal cases.
