Tree plantation: forest department asked to motivate people

Punjab Forest Minister Dr Ashfaq-ur-Rehman has ordered the Forest Department to motivate people through print and electronic media to plant maximum trees and to create awareness about the economic and environmental importance of plantation.
Presiding over a departmental meeting at his office, the Minister added that media plays a vital role in this regard. He further said that besides plantation of new saplings, equal attention should be paid to the protection and growth of the existing plants during monsoon plantation campaign.
Dr Ashfaq stressed on provincial ministers and district nazims to play their respective role for the plantation of trees on state and private lands in their areas.
He said that maximum number of trees should be planted to make Punjab pollution free. He told that department has launched various development schemes to increase per acre number of trees in the province. He said that 470 sale points have already been set up in all districts of the province where three crore saplings have been provided.
