The chairman, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), M. Abdullah Yusuf, will address the first training workshop on "Leading & Managing Change" arranged for tax officials of Grade 20-21 on August 23 (today) at Lahore.
An FBR announcement on Wednesday says that the Lahore University of Management Sciences (Lums) has started training workshop of senior tax officials, which comprises two modules of six days each. The first module entitled 'Developing Strategic Change Leadership' has started at Lums Rausing Executive Development Centre (REDC), Lahore.
The module deals with identification of major strategic issues and concerns of FBR and recommendations on how to combat these problems. Apart from dealing with the existing structure and major processes of economy, including industrialisation and current investment trend, the training workshop also focuses on emergence of new globalised economy and its potential effect on revenue generation, regional trade and co-operation and how they are likely to impact both the economy and the revenue implications will also be discussed.
The training program will critically review strategic planning and its implications vis-à-vis organisational development, including the role of managers in brining real strategic change in their respective organisations, the FBR said.
The political and ethical aspects of organisational change and development and roles of leaders and top management in developing optimal strategies for organisational success and sustainability will also be reviewed.
During the training sessions, the comparative analysis of revenue processes in other countries like Malaysia, India, and Peru will also be analysed. The workshop will end up with presentations by groups of participants on FBR strategy which will be developed by each group, the board added.
