President of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Imran Khan has asked President General Pervez Musharraf to shed uniform and hold free and fair election under an impartial interim set-up. In an interview with a private TV channel he said the lawyers' community successfully fought the battle for independence of judiciary.
"We never had a democratic and independent justice system," Khan added. PTI chief said pure democracy is impossible without the free judiciary. Now, he said, the battle has started and finally the Supreme Court derives its power from the people rather than GHQ.
Imran said now the country needed a genuine democratic system for which the politicians are trying and very soon the country would have a real democratic system. If the battle of true democracy is won, the people of Pakistan will have great future, he maintained.
Imran said in parliamentary form of government the Prime Minister is Chief Executive but in Pakistan the Prime Minister is the Personal Secretary of General Musharraf. Imran Khan also stressed the formation of an independent Election Commission.
