The surveillance teams constituted by Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has detected 188 power pilferage cases in its six-day operation since the launching of the drive against power theft and illegal use of electricity in the province.
As per details of the campaign, the surveillance teams on first day conducted raids in Daudzai sub-division and detected 25 consumers allegedly involved power theft, while during surprise visit in Gulbela, another suburban locality, it nabbed 30 more consumer for illegal use of electricity. Similarly, on August 28, the teams detected 133 consumers in Wazirbagh subdivision of the company for alleged involvement in power pilferage and illegal use of electricity.
The Chief Executive Officer PESCO Brigadier Sakhi Marjan has constituted different Survelience for keeping vigilance on illegal use of electricity and checking of meters to curb the menace of power theft in the province.
The purpose of the drive is to root out the illegal practices of power pilferage and traditional kunda culture from the society to arrest the growing line losses and bringing improvement in recovery. The company had served connections of these 188 consumers of different localities of Daudzai, Gulbela and Wazirbagh subdivisions with detection bills approximately to Rs 1,419,000.
