Over 10,000 agriculture credit borrowers of the Bank of Punjab (BoP) have benefited from the crop insurance scheme over the past three years. "The Bank of Punjab has the honour to be the first financial institution in the country to introduce the crop insurance in April 2004," bank President Hamesh Khan said when he chaired a meeting here on Wednesday. He said the bank's crop insurance scheme had been well-received by growers.
"The crop insurance scheme for farmers with small and large agricultural land holdings provides a cover against natural calamities besides providing them an opportunity to get loans from banks against their insured crop," he added.
