Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab on Wednesday declared that General Pervez Musharraf is not acceptable either in uniform or without uniform, hence he should quit the power to pave the way of induction of Chairman Senate as acting president.
President Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab Liaquat Balouch told newsmen after a meeting of the Majlis-e-Shoora of JI Punjab here on Wednesday that need of the hour is that Pervez Musharraf should quit power forthwith.
He said Chairman Senate after replacing Pervez Musharraf should convene an APC to chalk out strategy for holding general elections in the country in free, fair and impartial manner.
He said, "Today's meeting also discussed current political and economic situation of the country, escalating price hike, load shedding and other important matters." He further said that the meeting also asked the government to open the Lal Masjid for prayers after consultation with Wifaq ul Madaris.
Answering a question regarding deal between Pervez Musharraf and Benazir Bhutto, he said that whosoever, including PPPP would strike a deal with Pervez Musharraf would have to face horrible results.
Nevertheless, the party, which would support the government, would be finished. Liaquat Balouch who is also Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal Punjab President said that MMA has called names of candidates for general elections from sub organisations. He said all the district bodies of the MMA have been asked to hold their meetings and send names of those candidates desirous to contest the general elections from the platform of MMA by September 10.
