Sindh home adviser Waseem Akhtar on Wednesday called for a report about Pakistani Bengalis interned in jails in Sindh. He issued the directive to IG Prisons Mohammed Yamin Khan in a meeting with a delegation of Pakistani Bengalis Action committee, which met him at his office.
On the occasion, the delegation informed the Advisor that a large number of national identity cards and passports of Pakistani Bengalis are lying ready at Nadra and passport offices but are being with-held without any reason.
The Advisor listened to their problems and asked the delegation leader to immediately provide him a list of those Pakistani Bengalis whose CNICs and passports were ready but not being issued. He assured that he would talk to concerned authorities and try to get their problem solved on priority basis.
Waseem Akhtar said that like other nationalities, the Pakistani Bengalis too should have all rights in the country. The delegation leader thanked the Advisor and said that Pakistani Bengalis were true and patriotic Pakistanis who gave sacrifices for the country twice.
