Girls education: SSGC-SPO launch awareness programme

The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has shown unfaltering commitment not just towards provision of natural gas to the province of Sindh but also through its corporate social responsibility initiatives in the areas of health, education, environment and community services.
This was stated by Syed Shafqat Hussain Shah Sherazi, District Nazim, Thatta who presided the special ceremony held at Taluka council to mark to a unique collaboration between SSGC and Strengthening Participatory Organisation (SPO) for motivating the community for girls education about health and hygienic using interactive theatres as a pragmatic tool in seven Tehsils of district.
The objective behind the initiative is to increase literacy rate among girl students in rural areas of the district and reduce dropout rates in the different localities of Thatta. Engr. Naeem-ur-Rehman Akhoond, Senior General Manager, Management Services, SSGC was the chief guest on the occasion. On the occasion, District Nazim Thatta expressed his confidence in SSGC's support programme that would go a long way in raising awareness about girls' education and importance of hygiene in Sindh. He lauded SSGC for its proactive role and assured co-operation in this regard.
Addressing the audience, Engr. Naeem-ur-Rehman Akhoond appreciated SPO's efforts in creating awareness about girls' education in the rural areas of Sindh. He said that as part of its CSR policy, the company has shown a commitment towards the cause of education by adopting a number of schools in Sindh and Balochistan.
In this regard, SSGC is channelising its energies on the construction and renovation works in schools, which either had long been in totally ramshackled state or had suffered profusely from dire shortage of basic amenities, Engr. Akhoond said. Later, SGM, SSGC handed over the cheque to the SPO officials as its contribution towards the funding of the programme.
