A leading branded liquid milk producing company has increased the prices of the commodity by rupees two per litre just ahead of the holy month of Ramazan for unknown reasons, said retailers on Thursday. The one-litre liquid milk pack, which was avaialble for Rs 42 and half litre pack for Rs 24 respectively.
Retailers said that these enhanced rates would come into force from Friday. However, they said that this was a part of regular price hike, taking place periodically.
They pointed out that the leading liquid packed milk producing company had given no indication of price increase in advance and the sudden increase in the prices would add to the miseries of the consumers ahead of the holy month of Ramazan. They said the ratio of sale would not be affected by the recent price hike, but the consumers would suffer utmost.
