All forms of profiteering, hoarding and price hike during the month of Ramadan will be restricted to ensure smooth supply of essential items in controlled rates.
Punjab Food Minister, Hussain Jehanian Gardazi, while addressing a meeting on Sunday said that the government has planned to facilitate people by selling essential commodities at reduced prices through Ramazan Bazaars, Sunday Bazaars.
The government is not only vigilant but also monitoring the rates on daily basis, he said adding that the DCOs have been empowered to monitor the process of bidding fruits, vegetables at markets are entitled to take punitive action against the profiteers.
He also ordered to set up special cells at the office of Secretary, Industries to monitor the prices at provincial level. The minister further said those rate lists would be displayed to curb the hoarders.
