Legal aid committees for political activists

The Lahore High Court Bar Association, Multan Circuit Bench and the PML-N Lawyers' Wing have constituted committees to provide free legal aid to political activists, if they were arrested and harassment by the government in a bid to stop them from awarding a rousing welcome to Sharif brothers' on their arrival in Islamabad on September 10.
General Secretary LHCBA Multan, Rana Naveed Akhtar while addressing a press conference here on Sunday said that a large number of lawyers would receive Sharif brothers at the Islamabad Airport upon their arrival from over seven-year long exile. Moulvi Sultan Alam, Riaz Latifi, Bilal Butt, Zafar Qadri and other were also present.
"Lawyers will thwart Musharraf government's efforts to arrest party workers or any efforts to create hurdles in arrival of PML-N leaders", he said.
He said lawyers were committed to establish rule of law and supremacy of Constitution in the country, pledging that they would guard the democratic process in the country.
"Our aim now is to oust the dictator and this goal will be achieved as we succeeded in getting the chief justice of Pakistan reinstated," he noted.
President PML-N Lawyer Wing, Moulvi Sultan Alam Advocate said that the whole nation was ready to accord a rousing welcome to Sharif brothers.
He said the apex court's judgement was very clear that no government agency could arrest the Sharif brothers. He said lawyers would launch a Jail Bharo Tehreek if Sharif brothers were arrested.
