In view of the possible return of Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Nawaz Sharif and PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif on September 10, police have started arresting the PML-N activists in Rawalpindi.
The late night raids on the houses and offices of PML-N activists has caused panic in the city and party activists are forced to stay away from their houses, said Sardar Naseem, General-Secretary PML-N Rawalpindi while talking to reporters, on Monday.
The reign of terror unleashed by police and other law enforcing agencies speaks loud of the rulers frustration due to proposed return of Muslim League leaders, he said. He said that a number of party activists, including two Naib Nazims Zeeshan Ahmad and Malik Nisar have been arrested in the night between Sunday and Monday. Zeeshan, he said, was picked up from Bagh-Sardaran and Malik Nisar from Khayaban-e-Sir Syed.
A number of PML-N leaders and activists, including the party's provincial Joint Secretary in Punjab, Waheed Mehfooz, have gone underground to avoid arrest. Sources said that the police raided the house of Mehfooz but he was not present. Meanwhile, the police have denied arresting anyone in the city saying that police have no order to arrest PML-N or any other party's political activist.
