04 Sep, 2007

Chairman Senate Mohammedmian Soomro has directed the development and management committee to complete the proposed Bari Imam Complex as early as possible, which would also house the mausoleum and an arcade. Somroo presided over the Committee meeting held at the Parliament House Monday.
He was informed about three earlier bids submitted by pre-qualified firms, but their rates received through negotiations in December 2005 were 55 percent above NIT and the bid was conditional too. The complex design has been structured in accordance with revised building code.
This time lowest bidder's rate was 49 percent above NIT and with no conditions attached. Therefore the Committee received a go ahead. However, the Planning Commission must be consulted in finding out whether Phase-I of the project could be executed pending the revision of PC-I.
CDA plans to construct Lohi Dandi project at a cost of Rs 50 million. Construction of meditation site (Chillah Gah) community eatery (Langar Khana) and Lavatory, as well as a site for rest and recreation of pilgrims is included in the building plan.
