Pesco directed to minimise loadshedding in Ramazan

The board of directors of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) on Wednesday directed all out efforts to minimise load shedding in the province especially in the Ramazan.
The board meeting, which held here at Wapda House with Pesco Board Chairman Jamshed Savul in the chair also approved Rs 8 billion company's operation and maintenance budget for financial 2007-08.
Pesco Chief Executive Brigadier Sakhi Marjan, Dr Mir Hatam, Ahmad Nawaz Mughal, Aftab Mehmood Butt, Tahir Basharat Cheema, and Dr Maqbool Khan members and Pesco Senior Management, including Chief Engineer (operation) Jehanzeb Khan, Chief Engineer (technical) Nawaz Ali Khan, Chief Engineer (T&G) Rustam Zad Gul and Finance Director Anwarul Haq Yousafzai attended the meeting.
The board specially directed the officials of the company not to cut power supply at the time of Sehri, Iftar and Taravi prayers during Ramazan so the people may not face inconvenience.
It also directed the company to publicise the schedule of load management in the media and make the people aware about the load management timings and enable them to manage their daily routine life easily. Jamshed Savul and members welcomed newly inducted members Aftab Mehmood Butt and Tahir Basharat Cheema.
Pesco Board Secretary Anwarul Haq Yousafzai presented comprehensive report about the minutes of 39th board meeting and after detailed discussion the board approved minutes with minor amendments.
The meeting was told that millions of rupees are being spent on maintenance and look after of system augmentation, new grid stations and installation of high power transformers as well. The measures will improve the distribution system and help resolve the consumer's problems. After holding thorough discussion the budget was approved with some amendments.
The board also gave approval to 15 percent increase in pay and pension of Pesco employees as already announced by the federal government and accorded approval of up-gradation of clerical and audit staff under the laid down procedure as already announced by the government.
It directed the staff to further improve their performance and work with professional zeal and national spirit. An appreciation and welcome resolution was also passed by the Pesco Board eulogising and appreciating the services of outgoing Wapda Chairman Tariq Hamid rendered for the development and prosperity of the country and putting the Authority on right path and also for the uplift of Pesco.
The board welcomed the newly appointed Wapda Chairman Shakeel Durrani and assured him of their full support and co-operation. It also passed a condolence resolution, and expressed its profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of former Pesco chief executive Brigadier Khalid Khan (Retd) and prayed to Allah Almighty for eternal peace of the soul of the deceased and granting courage to the bereaved family to bear such an irreparable loss. The Pesco board also approved a number of technical and managerial matters.
